"Shine" by Robbie Porter |
One of my favorite exhibits at the AQS Quilt Week is the Cherrywood Fabrics Quilt Challenge. Every two years, Cherrywood Fabrics issues a juried art quilt contest to quilters to incorporate a designated set of their hand-dyed fabrics into art quilts. The challenge theme for 2021-2022 was "Graffiti".
The Graffiti Challenge participants utilized these fabrics in creating their unique art quilts:

My favorite of these quilts was "Shine" by Robbie Porter (shown above.) There were several others that were very awe-inspiring, like:
"The Tourist" by Terri Bahn. This quilt won second place in this challenge.

Incidentally, the Cherrywood Challenge for 2023 is "Monarch". The last day for submissions is June 23rd, 2023, for anyone who may be interested.
The next installment of the AQS Quilt Week Branson will highlight other handmade quilts on display as well as information on some of the vendors and interesting personalities I met during my time there.
Until next time,
